Therapeutic Approach and Background
My therapeutic approach is grounded in a strengths based perspective, which means we will look at your strengths and work towards using your strengths to make desired changes in your life. I also utilize a psychodynamic understanding of individuals to guide my work. This understanding will assist us in exploring how your life experiences may have shaped your decisions, emotions, and relationships. Additionally, I utilize cognitive behavioral techniques and mindfulness practices and how they can lead to a self-awareness and a positive approach to our own emotions, our own life and our own happiness.
I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from Rhodes College (Memphis, Tennessee). I went onto receive my MSW from University of Maryland, School of Social Work (Baltimore, Maryland) with a specialization in Maternal and Child Health. I have worked in a variety of settings prior to my private practice all of which have provided me with a better understanding of the therapeutic relationships across a variety of life experiences.
